NORTH DAKOTA LABOR LEADERS URGE RESOLUTION IN DETENTION CAMP CRISIS

Today, communities all over the US are coming together for marches and vigils in protest of the human detention camps and the inhumane conditions families are facing in those camps. The North Dakota AFL-CIO State Federation and Labor Councils fully support the demonstrations in Bismarck, Minot, Fargo and Grand Forks and have urged our affiliate union leaders and members to participate. We urge our elected leaders to immediately find a humane and just resolution for this tragic and unnecessary humanitarian crisis.

Working people have more in common with each other, regardless of nationality, than they do those that try to divide us for their own political and financial gain. When we join together, spanning those divisions, we are setting free the power of solidarity to make our world a better place for all working people.

We are proud of the many faith and social groups in our communities for organizing these important demonstrations and wish to thank them for their hard work. Not only are we member of labor unions, but we are also member of our communities, churches, and social organizations and it is incredible to see so many of our communities working together and standing together for what's right.

In Solidarity,

Landis Larson - North Dakota AFL-CIO State Federation President
Mark Froemke - Northern Valley Labor Council, AFL-CIO President
Nathan Brandt - Northern Plains United Labor Council, AFL-CIO President
Sean Forschen - Missouri Slope Labor Council, AFL-CIO President
Bob Wolf – Northern Chapter of the Missouri Slope Labor Council, AFL-CIO President
