NORTH DAKOTA AFL-CIO 60th CONVENTION

A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE ORGANIZING EFFORTS OF THE MINNESOTA NURSES ASSOCIATION IN NORTH DAKOTA

WHEREAS: The conditions that the nurses of St. Alexius Medical Center labored under, at the direction of Catholic Health Initiatives, caused hardship on both themselves and on the health of their patients; and

WHEREAS: The nurses of St. Alexius Medical Center are as committed to their patients and their communities as they are committed to bettering the conditions within which they labor; and

WHEREAS: The North Dakota AFL-CIO supports the right of all workers to organize for dignity, respect and a union at work; and

WHEREAS: The Nurses at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND bravely organized and won union representation with the Minnesota Nurses Association in a historic and overwhelming victory for unions in North Dakota; and

WHEREAS: The Minnesota Nurses Association is an Affiliate of National Nurses United; and

WHEREAS: National Nurses United is an Affiliate of the AFL-CIO; and

WHEREAS: The Minnesota Nurses Association is an Affiliate of the North Dakota AFL-CIO; and therefore be it

RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO warmly welcomes the Nurses represented by the Minnesota Nurses Association into our North Dakota labor family; and therefore be it further

RESOLVED: The North Dakota AFL-CIO re-affirms our commitment to the bonds of solidarity that unite us as working people and link us in unions, for the betterment of working people, and by the strength of working people.
